Cynthia is a 19 year old girl whose hopes and dreams for the future were put on hold when her mother died this past summer. Cynthia took a full time job in order to keep her 3 younger siblings together. Providing enough food for herself and her siblings was difficult, but now food is being provided for them by the Hillside Food Outreach.

Mike is married and the father of 3 small children and was working hard to provide for his family until he was diagnosed with a severe case of diabetes which left Mike both blind and on dialysis. If she worked outside the home, childcare for the 3 children would take all of his wife’s salary so they are trying to get by on disability. Feeding his family, something he always took for granted, became a constant struggle.

Frank, a veteran who is confined to a wheelchair do to a combat injury and now must live on only his disability income. Frank, after serving his country and living with the result of that cannot make ends meet on his disability income and now relies on the HFO to bring him supplemental food each month.

Martha, a senior who lives on Social Security income alone. Social Security is not enough income to live on due to the cost of living in our area and Martha often faced the end of the month with empty cupboard and an empty stomach.

And Tom, a senior citizen who was driven to steal food from a local supermarket in order to have food to eat…..

Unfortunately there are countless others with similarly heartbreaking situations that the volunteers of the Hillside Food Outreach visit monthly with both food and friendship. However, we need your help!! Please consider signing up for a monthly donation, whatever the amount.
